Grandma advice is the BEST advice

Meet the grandmas! Juliet Cruz (Nonna), Susan Vonsover (Grandmama), and Sylvia Kearney (Glam-Ma) share their best tips from 40+ years of babies and grandbabies.

Sweetly, smoothly, slowly

Nonna says: Those are my three S’s with diaper changes. A little singing, moving slowly and calmly, and talking sweetly to baby—it keeps her really very comfortable.

Keep it cushy on the tushy

Grandmama says: The #1 thing that makes Huggies® Special Delivery™ diapers so wonderful is that they’re soft throughout. They look good, they fit well, but the cushy on the tushy is the most important thing.

Don’t wait to change

Glam-Ma says: You have to make sure they’re not sitting in all that mess for skin to stay healthy. Plus if you buy a cheap diaper, it can leak out and you’ll have a mess on your lap—don’t do it!

Simpler is better

Nonna says: I’m a perfectionist with wipes, and I want them hypoallergenic and paraben free—like Huggies® Natural Care®. You don’t want to risk irritation, because their skin is so young. Believe me, I know.

Call for reinforcements

Grandmama says: Changing all the diapers—why would you do that to yourself? Let grandparents give you a break. I’ve been on Poopy Patrol for my grandkids for 10 years, and I love it.

A dry bum is a happy bum

Glam-Ma says: You do not want moisture touching your baby’s bottom. Huggies® absorbs it all away from baby’s skin, so you don’t get irritation. Nothing glam about diaper rash!

Get a breathable diaper

Nonna says: If there’s no air getting into the diaper, then it’s going to be very wet and the baby will get a rash. Mark my word. A diaper with a breathable lining is best.

A pisher is a pisher

Grandmama says: It’s a myth about boys peeing more than girls. I’ve been changing diapers for 40 years plus, and what I know is a pisher is a pisher. You just need a good diaper to hold it.

Go on, babble back

Glam-Ma says: I talk to my grandbabies while I change them, even if it’s just gaga-googoo sounds. My daughter’s like, “Mom, please just change the diaper.” Babies love it, though.
