Traveling with kids of any age is no easy task but traveling with toddlers, especially young wiggly ones, can be especially tough. Here are some tips to help.
Have plenty of healthy snacks and drinks on hand in a cooler.
Little kids only say something when it's five minutes too late. If you want to avoid accidents, schedule regular bathroom breaks and make your child get out and try to go — he'll have to go; trust me.
Choose some inexpensive toys and books that can be played with in the car, and wrap them (use lots of tape to make the unwrapping take longer). Then I save them for major meltdown times of the day — i.e., normal home naptime.
If your toddler has a special blanket, stuffed pal or pacifier, make sure they're invited along. Your child is sure to sleep at some point, and it won't be pretty if that's when you realize that Fluffy the bear is 300 miles away at home.
