Yes, you will lose the baby weight; in the meantime, you can just look like you did! It’s oh-so-easy with these tips from designer Liz Lange, founder of Liz Lange Maternity and shopafrolic.com, the new daily shopping newsletter.

  • Steer clear of your husband’s closet. You may think throwing on his big shirts or your maternity clothes will help you hide your post-baby body, "but anything enormous will overwhelm you and make you look larger and sloppy," says Lange, a mother of two.
  • Then again, don’t go too fitted. "When you’re pregnant, you want to wear fitted clothes to show off your blooming belly," Lange says. But if they’re too fitted post-delivery, people may ask you when you’re due. "And that’s not fun when you’ve already had the baby—I know, because it happened to me," Lange adds
  • Top it off right. Tunics, empire-style, or wrap tops and dresses are the most flattering post-baby silhouette. The reason: They’re fitted in the arms and shoulders, but not tight across your post-baby belly.

  • Go A-line. Flatter your figure with an A-line shirt dress or a trench coat over an A-line skirt. "You can cinch in your ‘waist’ with the belt, and the looser bottom will hide heaviness in your lower half," Lange explains.
  • Wear skinny pants. Ones that are slightly flared at the hem are the most slimming pants you can own. "They balance out your body and make your thighs and upper body look longer and leaner," Lange says.
  • Flaunt it. When the occasion calls for it, dare to show off your bigger bustline. As Lange says, "If you are like me, this may be the only time you have it!"

Rated 0 out of 5 by Wow! I would never have thought to wear skinny pants. I do love my bigger bustline, but sometimes it feels a little vulgar at times;) November 27, 2012
Rated 0 out of 5 by Tunics are great for hiding post baby bellies. I, however, disagree with the skinny jean suggestion. I think it makes a little belly look larger. July 22, 2012
Rated 0 out of 5 by Good tips. I wore mostly Liz Large Maternity from Target. Great quality clothing. July 29, 2011
Rated 0 out of 5 Thanks! Much needed advice. I too love a cardigan over a tank but this summer I'm a huge tunic fan! Linen ones are the best. June 22, 2011
